Invitation Ornaments

Zack and I are in the phase of life where we have an engagement party, wedding, baby shower, or first birthday party to go to just about every month. Hello 30s! Invitations pile up but I don’t have the heart to just throw them away.

I know how much anguish went into choosing just the right invite. The fonts, the colors, the layout, the spacing - you name it. This isn’t to mention that they are EXPENSIVE. So, there they sit - piling up on the counter - utterly useless.

Zack proposed to me at a combined graduation party for the both of us. Our families and friends surrounded us and it was one of the most incredible moments of my life. After the party, I received the best gift ever.

Invitation Ornaments

A friend from work turned our graduation party invitation into a beautiful ornament. I’ve held on to the piece for 7+ years and it continues to be one of the first ornaments to go up on my tree.

Materials needed —

  1. Save those invites!

  2. Scrap book cutter

  3. Clear glass or plastic ornaments

Here’s how to make them —

  1. Save up your invites throughout the year and gather them all up

  2. Grab your old scrapbooking cutter or just a good pair of scissors work, too.

  3. Chop up your invitations.

TIP: Pay attention to the information you’d like to save and highlight in the ornament. Cut the invitation horizontally to save names, dates, locations, times, etc.

  4. Pop the top off of your ornament and stuff it with the cut up invitation

  5. Add a ribbon or any other fun little extra you’d like and gift it! Use these as unique, individual gifts and present them in their own cute little box or attach them to another gift as a fun little extra.

If you decide to make these yourself, please reach out and share your experience! I’d love to hear about the memory you’re capturing.
